Flipping is Hard Phone Skins and Covers Guide

Flipping is Hard phone skins explained: how Tab opens the SKINS menu, how skins unlock, what Steam's skin pack achievements need, and 18 demo skin names.

How do you get phone skins in Flipping is Hard?

The studio says you unlock covers, charms, stickers and accessories from hidden loot, NPC challenges and redeem codes found around the world. Press Tab to open the Phone OS, which the official game page describes as mini-games, stats, checkpoints and skins. Steam tracks collecting 5, 25 and 80 skin packs, so at least 80 packs exist. No complete public list exists yet, so this page sticks to what the official sources say, what Steam lists and what one demo video tour shows.

What does the SKINS menu look like?

The screenshot below comes from a pre-launch full-game build: the label in its bottom-right corner reads FLIPPING IS HARD - CHILL - V2.3.001. The SKINS screen shows a live preview of your phone on the left and a grid of tiles on the right. The preview phone wears a mug charm that reads “I HATE MONDAYS”, which shows that charms hang from the phone.

A row of icons above the grid switches categories. The icons look like phone bodies, a face, a charm, a sparkle, a hat, sunglasses, a backpack and a tie, plus three black round icons we could not make out. Key hints sit at both ends of the row; the one on the right reads E. One tile carries a yellow tick, which looks like the equipped skin, and many tiles carry yellow dots. The footage does not explain the dots or the pink, purple and green tile backgrounds, so we do not guess.

How do you open the Phone OS?

Press Tab during a run. The in-game HUD shows a small phone icon with a TAB label in the top-left corner, and the official page lists skins among the Phone OS features. See the controls and jump guide for the rest of the inputs.

Which Steam achievements track skins?

Achievement Steam description Hidden
New Phone, Who Dis? Collect 5 skin packs Yes
Dress to Impress Collect 25 skin packs Yes
Drip Lord Collect 80 skin packs Yes

Steam does not say what a skin pack contains or where the packs are. For other collectibles, see the Golden Horse Coins and phone games guide. The Creator Hub also points players to the NPC challenges for rare cosmetics, and the NPC locations guide lists the challenges Steam tracks.

What do the demo’s E prompt and redeem screen show?

In many clips of the tour, the skin stands beside what looks like a paint pot and a phone case, with an E prompt above it, and several clips show a puff of smoke. Nothing on screen says what E does there, so we cannot tell whether it is a pickup, a preview or a customization stand. Treat it as what the footage shows, not as a confirmed rule.

The skin and props at 4:24. The “Crash Phone” label is the creator’s overlay.

In the demo, Redeem Code was an item on the pause menu, which listed Resume, Invite Friend, Settings, Redeem Code, Restart and Save and Exit (2:30). Enter the code, select Redeem, and the line “CODE REDEEMED SUCCESSFULLY” appears below the button.

The redeem screen at 2:50. The “Wireframe Phone” label is the creator’s overlay.

Which redeem codes unlock which skins?

The tour types five codes in full and shows the success line after each. The box displays every code in capitals; the table writes them as our redeem codes page does, so the video cannot tell you whether capitalization matters.

Code Creator’s label for the skin Watch
Light_Blue Light Blue Phone 1:00
flippy_the_phone Flippy The Phone 2:32
give_feedback Wireframe Phone 2:44
dumb_phone Dumb Phone 5:48
gold_red_phone Iron Man Phone 6:00

These are the creator’s labels. A player in the Steam codes thread says flippy_the_phone gives the Finn the Human skin, while the tour labels it Flippy The Phone, so do not assume the game’s own skin names match. The full list of codes, with their status, is on the redeem codes page.

What skin names does the demo tour show?

The tour is titled All skins in | Flipping is Hard| and how to get them and ends with an on-screen label reading “Comment if I missed any skins”, so it is explicitly incomplete. These are the creator’s labels in the order they appear:

Label How the tour shows it Watch
Pink Phone In the world; no code on screen 0:04
King Phone In the world; no code on screen 0:08
Brick Phone In the world; no code on screen 0:24
Suit Phone In the world; no code on screen 0:40
Light Blue Phone Code Light_Blue typed 0:56
Ms Elephant Phone In the world, after a long climb across green hills 1:04
Flippy The Phone Code flippy_the_phone typed 2:29
Wireframe Phone Code give_feedback typed 2:40
Pizza Phone In the world, around a giant pizza box 2:52
Black Phone In the world; no code on screen 3:40
Crash Phone In the world; no code on screen 4:04
White Phone In the world; no code on screen 4:28
Camo Phone In a cardboard-box area beside a green toy soldier 4:52
Plank Phone In the world; the narrator’s subtitle reads “Oh you found our Plonk! Unexpected honestly.” 5:00
Tiger Phone In the world; no code on screen 5:12
Galaxy Phone On wooden planks beside a teal handheld console; no code on screen 5:36
Dumb Phone Code dumb_phone typed 5:48
Iron Man Phone Code gold_red_phone typed 5:56

Two labels match NPCs on our NPC locations guide: Ms Elephant Phone and the Plonk subtitle on Plank Phone. That fits the studio’s statement that NPC challenges unlock cosmetics, but the tour does not show a challenge being completed. The names may have changed at launch, and the full game has at least 80 packs.

What about charms?

The SKINS screenshot above shows a charm hanging from the preview phone. For unlocking, the sources are thin. In a speedrunner’s down-patch guide for an older demo build, going right at the very top of the climb led to a portal drop that gave one random charm out of four: a bone, a flower, a heart or a Flippy phone. To swap charms you had to climb back up and drop again, and you could get the same charm twice. He says the next patch removed it. Our sources do not say how charms unlock at launch, so treat the demo drop as history, not a farming route.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you unlock skins in Flipping is Hard?
The studio says covers, charms, stickers and accessories come from hidden loot, NPC challenges and redeem codes found around the world. Steam's skin pack achievements suggest packs are collectible items, but the sources do not list every location.
How many skins are there in Flipping is Hard?
There is no public total. Steam has a hidden achievement for collecting 80 skin packs, so at least 80 packs exist. A demo video tour shows 18 skin names, but it ends with a request for viewers to comment on skins the creator missed.
Which redeem codes unlock which skins?
In the demo tour, Light_Blue is labeled Light Blue Phone, flippy_the_phone is labeled Flippy The Phone, give_feedback is labeled Wireframe Phone, dumb_phone is labeled Dumb Phone and gold_red_phone is labeled Iron Man Phone. These are the creator's labels: a player in the Steam codes thread says flippy_the_phone gives the Finn the Human skin, so the game's own names may differ.
Is THE_SECRET_CODE a real redeem code?
A player in the Steam codes thread writes that it is actually one, and our codes page lists it. In the demo tour it appears only as the grey placeholder text in the empty redeem box and no clip types it, so the video neither confirms nor rules it out.
Can you still get the demo's random charms?
A speedrunner's down-patch guide for an older demo build shows a portal drop that gave one random charm out of four: bone, flower, heart or Flippy phone. He says the next patch removed it. Our sources do not say how charms unlock at launch.
